Clear and personal eye surgery with Dan Nguyen

Personalised eye surgery from a Consultant Eye Surgeon

I’m passionate about helping people improve their vision and enjoy a better quality of life.

One of the reasons I became an eye surgeon was because I saw the difference that restoring and improving vision can make. Clearer vision can change how you go about your everyday life, from reading and driving to spending time with family and enjoying the activities that matter to you.

As a Consultant Eye Surgeon, I believe that eye surgery should be about more than simply treating your eyes. It should be about understanding you, your concerns, your lifestyle and what you want to achieve.

That is why I provide a personal approach to eye surgery, with clear information and support from your first conversation through to your treatment and aftercare.

What eye surgery does Dan Nguyen offer?

I offer a range of private eye treatments, with my main areas of interest including cataract surgery, premium cataract surgery, lens replacement and glaucoma treatment.

The right treatment depends on your individual eyes and what you want to achieve.

If your vision has become cloudy or blurred because of cataracts, cataract surgery may be an option. If you are over 45 and are looking for an alternative to glasses or contact lenses, lens replacement surgery may be suitable in some cases. I also provide treatment and ongoing care for people with glaucoma.

My approach is always personal. There is no single treatment that is right for everyone, so I take the time to understand your needs before discussing your options.

Cataract surgery and premium cataract surgery

Cataracts are a common cause of cloudy, blurred or dull vision. They can affect your ability to read, drive, recognise faces or see clearly in certain lighting conditions.

Cataract surgery involves removing the cloudy natural lens from the eye and replacing it with an artificial intraocular lens.

There are different lens options available during cataract surgery. These can include standard monofocal lenses as well as premium lens options for suitable patients.

The important thing is not simply choosing the newest technology. It is choosing an option that is appropriate for your eyes, your lifestyle and your visual needs.

That is why I take the time to discuss your options with you and explain what each treatment may mean for your vision.

Lens replacement surgery

Lens replacement surgery, also known as refractive lens exchange or RLE, involves replacing the eye’s natural lens with an artificial lens.

It may be an option for some people over the age of 45 who are finding reading glasses or contact lenses inconvenient. The aim for suitable patients is to improve their range of vision and reduce their dependence on glasses.

There are several types of intraocular lenses available, including monofocal, multifocal and extended depth of focus lenses. The right choice depends on your eyes and what you want from your vision.

Not everyone is suitable for lens replacement surgery. A detailed assessment is needed to understand your eye health and discuss whether the treatment is appropriate for you.

Glaucoma treatment

Glaucoma treatment is another important part of my work as an eye surgeon.

Glaucoma is a long-term condition that can affect the optic nerve and lead to permanent vision loss if it is not identified and managed appropriately.

Treatment depends on the type and severity of glaucoma and may include monitoring, eye drops, laser treatment or glaucoma surgery.

The aim of glaucoma treatment is to protect your vision and help you maintain your quality of life. Regular monitoring is important because glaucoma does not always cause noticeable symptoms in its early stages.

If you have been diagnosed with glaucoma, or have been told that you are at higher risk, I can assess your eyes and discuss the treatment and monitoring options available to you.

Why choose a personal approach to eye surgery?

When you are considering private eye surgery, it is natural to have questions.

You may want to know which treatment is right for you, whether you are suitable for surgery, what lens options are available or what you can expect from your recovery.

You may also be worried about waiting for treatment or simply unsure about where to begin.

My aim is to make your journey as clear and straightforward as possible.

I want you to understand your options rather than feel overwhelmed by medical terms and different technologies. Most importantly, I want to understand what matters to you.

Every patient is different. Your eye health, prescription, lifestyle and expectations all need to be considered when deciding whether a treatment is suitable.

What happens when I contact Dan Nguyen?

You do not need to know which treatment you need before getting in touch.

The first step is simply to talk about your eyes and what you would like to achieve.

During an appointment, I can learn more about your vision, your concerns and your goals. We can then discuss whether cataract surgery, lens replacement, glaucoma treatment or another approach may be appropriate for you.

If you are considering private cataract surgery, lens replacement surgery or glaucoma treatment, I can help you understand the next steps.

The aim is not to rush you into treatment. It is to give you the information you need to make a decision that is right for you.
