How paying for surgery works with Mr Dan Nguyen

The cost of eye surgery can feel confusing.

That is normal.

There may be a surgeon’s fee. There may be a hospital fee. There may also be lens costs, eye drops, and follow-up care.

We try to make this clear before you decide.

Typical private cataract surgery costs

Private cataract surgery in the UK often costs between £2,500 and £4,500 per eye. The final cost depends on your eye health, the hospital, and the lens you choose.

With Mr Dan Nguyen, current guide prices include:

Treatment Typical cost Monthly example
Standard cataract surgery package From £2750 per eye From £52.46 per month
Premium cataract surgery package From £3200 per eye From £61.05 per month
Lens replacement From £2750 per eye From £52.46 per month

These examples are based on a 10% deposit, then 60 monthly payments at 9.9% APR. For standard cataract surgery or lens replacement, the total to pay is shown as £3,147.88 per eye. For premium cataract surgery, the total to pay is shown as £3,662.99 per eye.

Not every hospital offers the same finance packages. We will confirm what is available for your chosen hospital before you go ahead.

What is usually included?

Depending on the treatment and hospital, the package may include:

  • Hospital fees
  • Your lens implant
  • Post-op eye drops
  • A follow-up appointment
  • The surgery itself

A standard lens is called a monofocal lens. This lens helps clear the cataract, but you may still need glasses for some tasks.

This lens helps remove the cataract and restore clearer vision. You may still need glasses for some tasks, such as reading or close work.

A premium lens may help reduce your need for glasses. This depends on your eyes, your lifestyle, and the type of lens that is right for you.

We will talk you through these choices

How Dan Nguyen’s fee relates to the hospital package

Your total cost is usually made up of two parts.

The first part is the professional fee.
This covers Mr Nguyen’s time, skill, planning, surgery, and care.

The second part is the hospital package.
This covers the hospital, theatre, equipment, support staff, lens, and other parts of your treatment.

Some hospitals bundle these costs together into one package price. Other hospitals may show costs in a different way.

That is why prices can vary between hospitals, even when you are seeing the same surgeon.

This hospital package may be different from premium cataract surgery or lens replacement. It may not include premium lens choices. We will explain the difference before you book.

What if you have private medical insurance?

Some patients use private medical insurance for cataract surgery.

If you have insurance, you should contact your insurer before treatment.

They can confirm:

  • Whether your treatment is covered
  • Whether you need pre-authorisation
  • Which hospital you can use
  • Whether there is an excess to pay
  • Whether premium lenses are included or excluded

We can help guide you through the process, but your insurer must confirm your cover.

What happens next?

The first step is to book a free video appointment. Mr Nguyen will listen to what is bothering you. He will ask what you want from your vision. He will explain your options in simple terms.

You will then receive clear guidance on:

  • Whether surgery is suitable for you
  • Which lens options may suit your eyes
  • Which hospital options are available
  • What the total cost is likely to be
  • Whether monthly payments may be available

There is no pressure to decide before you feel ready.

Our aim is simple.

We want you to know what treatment may help, what it may cost, and what your next step looks like.
