  3. Breaking Up the Cataract: Next, a special tool called a phacoemulsification probe is used to break up the cataract into small pieces. This makes it easier to remove from the eye.
  4. Inserting the New Lens: Once the cataract is removed, a clear artificial lens, called an intraocular lens (IOL), is inserted in its place. This lens will help restore your vision.
  5. Closing Up: Finally, the incision is closed, usually without the need for stitches.

The entire procedure typically takes less than 30 minutes, and most people experience little to no discomfort.
